Val Thorens to open for summer skiing

Confirmation has just come that with this winters heavy snowfall, Val Thorens has secured a sufficient snowpack that will allow summer skiing.

Summer skiing in Val Thorens is back

The Val Thorens lift company has reported record snow-depths at the top of the slopes and will be putting in place snow preservation techniques to protect the snow-cover post winter season. Reflective sheets that have previously been used on glacier protection projects will be spread over exposed slopes inter-season to slow the melt process.
The summer ski season will however be early and short, running solely through-out the month of June. The normal Val Thorens summer opening is still scheduled for July which will make way for typical Val Thorens summer activities such as mountain biking, hiking and parapenting.
