Big dump on the way for Val Thorens

Current temperatures in resort are hovering around zero degrees but set to drop, with the first significant dump of snow expected overnight. Two days of fairly consistent rain should follow, with temperatures dropping to -4 on Saturday and as low as -10 on Sunday. However, don't expect to be skiing powder at the weekend, as there is a high likelihood that that lift service will be suspended, with winds of between 60kmph and 90kmph forecast for Saturday, and a lower but still chairlift halting 50kmph predicted for Sunday.

Monday should bring clear skies, albeit still chilly. Winds should have subsided by then, allowing lift services to resume.
