Val Thorens Snow Report: 24th October 2014

Start doing those squats & lunges, there's only 42 days to go….

It’s time to start doing squats and lunges, try on last year’s ski pants to make sure they still fit and check out some holiday deals – the ski season is now just six weeks away. Val Thorens's lifts open on 6 December and already snow has started to fall in the resort.

The first snows fell in the 3 Valleys yesterday to well below resort level. This early snow may melt away on the lower slopes, but it will no doubt remain on the summits, forming the base for the snowpack we’ll be gliding down in the coming months.

Here are a few photos of Méribel centre and Chaudanne taken earlier today. Note the main lift pass office at the Chaudanne is undergoing a facelift, both inside and out. There are also plenty of new things to discover in the Méribel and 3 Valleys ski areas this winter, including new lifts and pistes – check out our news page for full details.

I’ll be writing and recording thrice-weekly snow reports from the 3 Vallees from the start of December as usual. Let’s hope this early snow augurs as good a winter as good as the past couple of seasons. Just 42 days to go….
