Jean-Frederic Chapuis is World Champion
Local 3 Valleys Skier Wins 2013 SkiCross World Title
Val Thorens's own Jean-Frederic Chapuis won the 2013 ski cross world title on the 10th of March with his first ever top place podium finish in the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships in Voss-Oslo, Norway.
The 24 year old Frenchman then followed up his victory in Norway with another gold medal winning performance in last weekend's skicross event at the World Champs in Are, Sweden.
Chapuis has shown a remarkable aptitude for ski cross since switching over from technical alpine events in 2010. His results have been steadily improving and he started this season with two top-5 finishes in the first two races, several won heats, and some of the fastest qualification times.
Prior to the Voss-Oslo competition, Chapuis had never actually won a World Cup Event but victory in Norway seems to have set him on something of a roll. With back to back wins and a world title now in his pocket, the future looks very bright for this local talent.
Be sure to keep your eyes out for Jean-Frederic next year at the Sochi Olympics.
