These lessons offer great value for money, as you can have up to six people with one instructor at a fixed price. The cost covers the instructor’s time, so it remains the same regardless of the number of people in your group.

You also have the unique opportunity to choose the perfect instructor. Whether you’re a complete beginner, intermediate, or expert skier, you can compare instructors by viewing their profiles - considering their experience, customer reviews, and available lesson timings to help you make the right choice.

Children’s group lessons are especially popular. With years of experience, instructors know how to strike the perfect balance between fun and learning. Each group has a maximum of just six children, allowing for plenty of individual feedback in a safe and supportive environment.

Adult group ski lessons, for those aged fifteen and over, offer excellent value for money. With a maximum of four adults per group, they feel more like shared private lessons than standard group sessions. You can expect personalised feedback, structured progression and high-quality demonstrations throughout.

Group lessons are given in a relaxed atmosphere with your safety in mind, instructors take a maximum of 10 people (eight max. for children) which also ensures the best results and personal attention. They are a classic and efficient way to learn whilst benefiting from the group environment.

Lessons are split by ages: Adults 18+, Teens 13 to 17 years, children 3 to 12 years.

Levels for adults are from beginners through to levels one to four, and children from beginners through to one star and up to gold star.

Children's lessons involve a foreign language element (French for English speakers, English for French speakers), a daily theme and sentence to remember, Thursdays are crazy helmet day and Fridays there is an end of week party with presents. Children's ski school lessons start from age five and snowboard school from age eight.

They also have instructors who are qualified to teach handiski and to take deaf and mute lessons to clients with disabilities. Discuss this with them at the time of booking.

In addition to traditional ski and snowboard lessons they also run the following types of lessons:

• Blue Ride off piste guiding: try out freeriding with an avalanche transceiver
• Cool Ride: “special youth” free ski package, to get a feel for all types of downhill activities
• Blue Style: freestyle sessions to perfect technique with different modules adapted.

Children's group lessons

They fill children’s group lessons with fun and engaging games and activities to encourage a positive attitude to all-things-ski. That’s why, from their first steps on the slopes to top tricks in the park, their friendly instructors and jam-packed lessons are almost guaranteed to leave your tots and teens hungry for more.

They acknowledges that every child is different, so they divide lessons and groups by ability and age, teaching solely in English and keep group sizes small. Lesson times and lengths vary.

For 5-12 year olds, ski lessons are centred around fun games and activities so they learn to ski whilst enjoying themselves. Lessons are limited to 8 children per instructor for a more personalised learning experience in the best learning environment.

For rumbling tums, they offer Lunch Club for kids during school holiday weeks.

Teen group ski lessons

Advanced teenage skiers from 12 years old looking for adventure can join the pro rider lessons. On the menu: snowpark, slalom racing and off-piste, all taught with safety in mind.

Adult group ski lessons

Group snowboard lessons

They offer group lessons for beginner to advanced snowboarders. Lessons are open to everyone from age eight. Their instructors will have you shredding in now time. For ultimate progression our lessons are limited to eight participants per instructor.

Private lessons offer more flexibility as well as one-to-one tailored tuition. Take a family outing, get a technical brush-up, regain lost confidence. Private Snowboard Lessons:

If you prefer a more flexible approach to learning to snowboard, have specific goals in mind or simply want a guide to show you the resort, private lessons are the perfect option. Their instructors will be there to help you make your goals a reality. You can keep your group private or add friends and or family (up to eight people maximum).

Having attended many ski clubs in Val Thorens over the years, they have both competed in Alpine and Freeride/Freestyle skiing competitions for France with a few podium finishes in the World Cup!

The instructors each have between 10-15 years experience of teaching skiing and snowboarding in Val Thorens. In 2014 the three of them decided to set up their own ski school to share their passion for winter sports and provide a personalised service.

Their independent ski school offers both private skiing and snowboarding lessons for all ages and abilities. Whether you are a complete beginner tackling pistes for the first time, want to try out tricks in the snow-park or venture off-piste, they can help you achieve your goals.

Avalanche safety kit with ABS bags will also be provided for those going off-piste.

These instructors are able to provide tuition in several languages - French, English, Russian and Spanish.

ESF is the oldest ski school in Val Thorens and has over 200 different instructors ready to help you make the most of your ski holiday.

All their instructors are fully qualified to the highest standards. The majority of their instructors speak English and English speaking instructors will be assigned to English clients.

Adult group ski lessons are a great way to learn to ski surrounded by new friends learning at the same level and these can be booked for five or six days and you can select from half day morning or afternoon or full day options. Times vary depending on the dates, due to school holidays. ESF will also organise your lift pass for you, so you can be sure to have the correct pass for which part of the mountain you will be exploring.

Children group ski lessons for ages 4 to 12 years - Your children can progress through all stages and star levels. In a friendly group of children at the same level of ability, with the advice of their instructor, your child will gain confidence, progress at their own pace and master their skis, techniques and terrains. 

On Friday, to acknowledge the passing of their level, ability and progress made during the week they will be awarded with a medal to take home. Children can also learn to snowboard from seven years old, should they wish to try something different.

The etoile groups have lessons during the morning, midday, afternoons and all day with some including lunch option.

For teens from 13 years - keep them entertained with a Teen Rider course or expand on their freestyle skills with a specifically designed course based in the snowpark with personalised video correction. They can also take snowboarding lessons if they would like to learn a different skill.

Private lessons cater for all abilities and ages, and when you book a private lesson with ESF Val Thorens you are able to take advantage of their advice and expertise one-to-one. They will quickly establish where you require help with your technical ability and work with you to rectify, so you progress and master your skis and snowboard with confidence!

Private lessons can be individual if you need to gain confidence and to progress at your own pace, or with a small group of family or friends accompanied by an instructor that will cater for all your requirements and expectations. It is best if the small group is of a similar level to benefit most out of a private lesson.
