Val Thorens continues to do what it does best at this time of year, holding onto strong and reliable conditions thanks to its altitude. The resort still feels properly wintery first thing, with good coverage across the mountain and a steady rhythm to the skiing. While the afternoons are softening in the sunshine, the overall picture remains very positive for late March, especially higher up where the snow is holding its quality well.

Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths are currently around 110 to 150 cm at resort level, with between 220 and 330 cm higher up across the ski area. There has been a small amount of recent snowfall, around 5 cm at altitude, which has helped freshen the surface slightly without changing the overall base. Coverage remains excellent across all sectors, particularly above 2200 metres.
Temperatures have been ranging from minus 10 to minus 4 degrees on the upper slopes, while resort level has been seeing daytime highs of around plus 1 to plus 6 degrees. The freezing level has been sitting between 2100 and 2500 metres, dropping overnight and supporting a solid refreeze. Winds have generally been light to moderate, with occasional stronger gusts on exposed ridges but no major disruption to conditions.
Skiing is strongest in the mornings, with firm and well prepared pistes offering good grip and consistency. The slight refresh higher up has improved surface conditions in places, particularly on the upper slopes where the snow remains more consistent throughout the day. As temperatures rise, the snow softens into a classic spring surface, with lower runs becoming heavier and more variable by mid afternoon.
Outlook & What’s On
The outlook remains largely settled, with a good amount of sunshine expected over the coming days and only a small chance of light snowfall at higher elevations. Temperatures are set to stay relatively cool for the time of year at altitude, which will help maintain the quality of the snowpack.
Val Thorens continues to offer a lively late season atmosphere, with events and activities ongoing across the resort. On mountain terraces are busy in the afternoons, and there is a steady programme of entertainment and après that keeps the resort feeling active as the season moves into April.
