Val Thorens have invested in new piste bashers for this winter, the diesel-electric hybrid groomers from Kässbohrer are set to save up to 20% in diesel consumption.

The new PistenBully 600 E + piste basher from Kässbohrer will be used to groom the pistes of Val Thorens this winter.
Courchevel was the first station to invest the € 350 000 needed to pay for a machine of this type, whilst Alpe d'Huez ran a series of tests last winter to prove the investments viability.
In total four ski resorts in the Alps have invested in these lean green machines; Alpe d’Huez, Courchevel, Serre Chevalier and Val Thorens.

The PistenBully 600 E + gives off 20% less CO2 & nitrogen oxide emissions, whilst saving up to 30% fuel consumption.
A further advantage that will be more apparent in resort is the reduced noise that the bashers will give off when in operation.
