Christmas in Val Thorens

Meet Father Christmas, enjoy torchlit descents, fireworks, mulled wine and a fabulous festive atmosphere in Val Thorens. Visit the Christmas village on the roof of the centre sportif, join in with some great games and activities.

Indulge in platters of seafood and oysters, foie gras and chocolate, all items you'll find on the Christmas table in France.

Join Santa on a stroll from 10:00 until 17:00 as he strolls around the shops. From 17:00 have your photo taken on Place Caron.

23 December 2025

Alaskan Games - 11:00 until 17:00 - take part in a giant escape game throughout the resort to find the recipe for the Serum. Location: Place Caron, from 5 years, free admission.

Winter Concert - 18h30 until 19:30. Professional gospel group bringing together singers with mixed voices and musicians with a wide repertoire. Location: Church/Polycultural Room of Val Thorens, all ages, free entry.

Christmas Eve - 24 December 2025

Meet Santa in his igloo - from 15:00. Santa places his sleigh in Val Thorens before leaving for his gift distribution tour. Come meet him under his Christmas igloo to take a photo! Also enjoy the Christmas treasure hunt. Location: Place Caron, free, open to all.

From 18:00 - Torchlight descent - unmissable descent with flaming torches orchestrated by instructors, which will amaze young and old alike. Warm up with hot drinks, distributed free of charge. Location: Place Caron, free.

From 19:00 - The Lady of Winter Show - 15 minutes.
“Hermine, a great lady stands there frozen like an ice statue…” Come and witness her mysterious awakening mixing narration, music, dance and lights sublimated by live performance and digital arts. Location: Le Board – Place Caron, free, limited places. After the show fireworks.

Christmas Day - 25 December 2025

Children's torchlight descent with Haribo from 18:00.
Just like the adults, children also have the right to their torchlight descent - equipped with an electric torch. As a bonus: distribution of HARIBO sweets. Registration with the ESF, at the Maison de Val Thorens (Tourist Office). Location: Place Caron, duration: 45 min, Snowflake level required to participate in the descent.

Robot workshop “On the trail of animals” - 11:00.
Children discover mountain animals by programming the movements of a robot on a play mat. Location: Place Péclet, free registration at the Tourist Office before Wednesday at 17:00. Maximum of 8 children. From 3 to 6 years old. Mandatory presence of a parent. Duration: about 1h.

Lego robot workshop and making a wooden chalet - 16h30.
Children make their own personalised wooden chalet, then program a robot equipped with motion, colour and sound sensors, personalising the robot with Lego and build giant courses in their wooden village. Location: Place Péclet, free registration at the Tourist Office before Wednesday 17:00. Maximum of 12 children. From 7 to 11 years old. Mandatory presence of a parent. Duration: about 2 hours.

Children's workshop - 16:00.
Fun manual activities, offered by the Tourist Office, adapted to small hands, will allow children to discover, decorate, recycle, while having fun. Location: Place Péclet, free registration at the Tourist Office before Thursday 17:00. Minimum 4 children and maximum 8. From 3 to 10 years old. Mandatory presence of a parent. Duration: about 1h.

21:00 until midnight: DJ Set and light show
Party with Guest DJ. Electrifying atmosphere, light show and stage to celebrate the New Year in style. Location: Roof of the Sports Centre – Le Board. Free.

Midnight: New Year's fireworks.

Numerous activities continue until 3 January 2026.

To prepare you for your French Christmas, here are a few festive facts that make the French Santa Claus a little different:

• Rather than a red hat, Père Noël wears a red cloak with a hood trimmed in white fur - a small difference easily unnoticed.
• Children do not wake up to presents under the tree on Christmas morning, because traditionally Père Noël brings toys to good little boys and girls after evening Mass on Christmas Eve.
• Children do not leave milk and cookies for Papa Noël, but at the very least they'll leave him a glass of Calvados or wine.
• Children do not hang stockings, but rather leave their shoes and slippers out and if they have been good Père Noël will fill them with treats.
• Children in France behave around the holidays out of fear of Le Père Fouettard, who follows Père Noël to discipline naughty children.
