Skiers and Snowboarders get ready…it’s getting colder in Val Thorens and the winter season is just around the corner! Each year, Val Thorens makes extensive improvements to ensure that the resort is at its best for its opening in November. For those of you venturing our way for the coming winter season, a whole host of exciting new shiny stuff awaits!

First up - Smile…you’re on camera!  A video zone has been fitted in the Snowpark allowing for freestylers of any level to be filmed whilst showing off their moves.  The system is free and accessible to everybody – to start the camera rolling, you simply need to scan your lift pass at the entrance to the zone.  As an added bonus, any videos made can be downloaded to a smartphone and instantly uploaded to social networks…and it won’t cost a penny!

Next up are the new incentives for lift passes which includes the “Pass TRIBU”: groups of 3 skiers or more who purchase all of their lift passes at the same time in one payment, receive a discount of 15€ per person (all passes must be for the same duration and the same ski area). Free Wifi zones have also been installed into 18 of the lift pass offices to enable faster sending of invoices and downloading of booking files onto customer mobiles.

If this wasn’t enough, Val Thorens has now got a free D.V.A park (Avalanche Victim Detector) created by the piste control team (partnered by BCA – Backcountry Access). The aim is to train and better inform skiers/boarders of all levels about avalanche rescue and techniques.  This will be open every day throughout the winter season and can be visited at any time.

Lastly, the resort’s most popular and widely used lift Le Funitel de Péclet has been massively improved. A total of 4.3m Euros has been invested in the lift and this winter will see an increased number of cabins (38 instead of 29) with  more space (22 passengers each with 19 seats) and an impressive updated entrance system meaning less queuing time.

So as you can see Val Thorens is ready for another season – now all we need is the first big dump of snow!  Keep an eye out for interesting accommodation deals such as Early Booking packages on our special offers pages, and for those after a taster of a holiday in Europe’s highest ski resort, check out the video of Val Thorens put together by the infamous movie maker Seb Montaz..
