Yesterday afternoon in Les Menuires an avalanche was triggered, coming to rest across a red piste lower down the hillside.

One skier on the piste at the time was pushed off his feet, whilst the other 6 people uphill of the avalanche were trapped on a ridge for a number of hours.

Having seen the avalanche they were scared and called for help from the rescue services. Unfortunately the helicopter was unable to fly because of bad weather.

Piste security teams helped all 6 people to safety by around 19:30 last night.

The avalanche bulletin reports a risk of 3/5 today, which is still considerable, and precaution must be taken to avoid setting off slides.
