Fresh Snow for April Skiing
Empty Pistes & Fresh Snow!
What an incredible end to the season we are having!
When you look out the window at the snow cover, it’s hard to believe it’s the 27th April! With fresh snow - nearly 30cm ins places! - landing at the start of the week, we are really enjoying a special end to the ski 21/22 season.
Snow Conditions
The pistes are remaining in solid condition. Whilst they are softening up throughout the day - and often patchy by the lifts closing. The groomers are doing an excellent job of maintaining and repairing the runs for the following morning.
Early in the morning, the snow is actually quite hard-packed. And because there are now very few people in the resort, the snow is remaining in good condition for much longer than you’d expect in the warmer spring weather. There is still fresh corduroy to be found close to noon lunchtime!
Snow Forecast
Temperatures are dropping towards the end of this week and we might actually see some fresh snowflakes falling towards the start of May! Temperatures are dropping below freezing at night which is really helping the conditions . And the day time temperatures are being reported at 1-3C but it feels much warmer. It is most definitely warm to sit out and enjoy long sunny lunches on the many terraces around the resort. The only challenge is to pick where to stop!
Jen's Top Tips
- Temperatures are warm, so light layers are a must. Especially for the kids who are m=working hard now to cut through the softer snow.
- Early morning conditions provide firmer pistes, with slushier afternoons. Think about getting your skies or boards waxed as the wetter snow can really slow you down - especially smaller and lighter kids!
- Don’t forget the sunscreen! Even with the cloudier skies, the sun is strong.
