Snow Report 23/11/22
It’s really beginning to feel a lot like winter out here in Val Thorens. Snow capped peaks once again adorn our winter landscape and the snow groomers are out getting ready in Val Thorens. It’s getting so close to the start of a new ski season now, who’s excited?
After a good snowfall last weekend and earlier this week of around 12cm and a top snow depth of 90cm and bottom snow depth of 40cm, we are looking forward to more snowfalls in the coming week and it’s pretty cold out there now. The freeze thaw conditions for the next week range from a maximum of 0°C to a minimum of -8°C. Currently it is looking like more snow is forecast on Friday night and then from Monday and will continue for the week. This will all help to consolidate the good base and whilst we can’t see a really huge dump of snow in the coming week, we can see regular snowfall. (EDIT 28/Nov/22 the forecast has changed and there is not very much snow forecast at all for the coming week now. While the snow in Val Thorens looks good and the opening weekend was fabulous, take care out there as the current snow depths can create a hazard, so you need to know where the deeper snow is.) Get your ski gear out and those skis waxed and ready to go. Val Thorens opened on the 26th November with the High Test weekend event.
