More than ever encouraged as the sustainable and eco-friendly travel option, getting to Val Thorens by train is still worth the effort with short transfer times from its closest major transport hub, whether that be Grenoble, Lyon or Geneva.

You'll get more leg room and it's a great way to enjoy the passing scenery.

Nearest train station to Val Thorens

Located on the valley floor, Moûtiers is the nearest train station to Val Thorens, around 30km from the resort centre. Eurostar ski trains from London and high-speed TGV trains from Paris stop here.

To get from Moûtiers to the ski area, there are local buses running a few times per day taking around 40 minutes to arrive at the centre.

There's no direct link between London and Val Thorens by train.

The Eurostar ski train goes from London St Pancras to various stations in the Alps including Chambery, Moûtiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

Train prices to Val Thorens

How much it costs depends a lot on when you travel. Peak weeks like Christmas, New Year, February half-term and Easter are obviously more expensive.

Eurostar ski train tickets usually go out for sale in mid-July and that's when they're at their cheapest.

TGV train tickets from Paris to other French cities are normally available to buy 120 to 90 days before your travel time.
